How a Kaptola Custom Pet Portrait Order Works

Ordering a custom digital pet portrait is easier when you know what happens between uploading a photo and receiving the final file. Kaptola uses a simple sequence: choose a style, provide reference photos, review a preview, request any appropriate minor correction, and receive the high-resolution digital artwork.

This guide describes a personalized portrait order, not a ready-made digital download such as the Yorkie coloring book. Check the selected Etsy listing for the preview and revision terms that apply to your order.

1. Choose the portrait style

Each Kaptola listing represents a particular visual direction. Rather than ordering a generic portrait and deciding on the style later, choose the listing whose examples are closest to the result you want.

This also makes the preview easier to evaluate: you already know the intended visual language before the portrait is created.

2. Send your pet photo

Depending on the ordering flow, you can provide the photo with the order or send it afterward through Etsy Messages.

A clear, well-lit image is ideal, but you may send several photos of the same pet when another angle reveals useful details.

3. Kaptola checks the reference

The reference is reviewed before the final artwork is prepared. The goal is to identify whether the visible details provide enough information to create a recognizable result.

If the image is difficult, Kaptola can still attempt the portrait. If necessary, you may be asked for another reference image.

4. The portrait is prepared

Kaptola uses a refined, standardized digital workflow developed for consistent portrait results. The process is designed around the chosen style and the recognizable visual features available in the reference material.

The work should not be understood as a hand-painted physical painting. The current Kaptola product is a custom digital artwork delivered as a file.

5. You receive a preview

For the personalized portrait process described here, Kaptola sends a preview through Etsy Messages for your approval before preparing the final high-resolution file. Confirm that the selected listing includes this step and check its response terms before ordering.

Use this stage to check the things that matter most: does the portrait read as your pet? Are distinctive markings, colors, ears and other recognizable features represented appropriately?

6. Minor corrections can be discussed

A preview is useful because small local details can sometimes need adjustment. Examples include a marking, a color, an ear position or a background detail.

The revision stage is intended for minor corrections within the selected style, not for turning the order into an entirely different product or visual style.

7. The final high-resolution file is prepared

The standard Kaptola portrait is delivered as a 4800 × 6000 pixel PNG in a 4:5 aspect ratio, prepared at 300 DPI.

That corresponds to 16 × 20 inches at 300 pixels per inch when printed without cropping. Other output requirements can be discussed when you know the size or format you need.

Because the product is digital, there is no standard physical print shipped by Kaptola at this stage. You can use the final file with a suitable local or online printing service.

Why the preview matters

A custom portrait is different from buying a finished poster. The source material belongs to you, and recognizable details matter. The preview creates a checkpoint between creation and final delivery rather than asking you to accept the result unseen.
