Commissioning a Portrait of a Pet You've Lost

Choose a main photograph

Look first for the expression you want to remember. Then zoom in: can you distinguish the eyes, ear shape and markings? An older, cropped or imperfect photo is not automatically unusable. If one feature is hidden, send another photo of the same pet to clarify it; label the favorite as the main reference. Choose a style without guessing

Compare the examples in the Etsy listing with the photograph you have. A close-up style may suit a clear face; a scene with costume or background may call for more interpretation. Check that the listing allows your pet and the composition you want, and ask before ordering if uncertain. A digital portrait is an interpretation of photographs, not a replacement for the original image.

Understand the preview
